One of the most common questions I hear from clients is, “If EMF exposure is something I should be concerned about, why has none of my doctors ever mentioned it?”

Having worked with hundreds of clients over the years, I don’t believe the answer is negligence or a lack of caring. Most physicians are trained to diagnose and treat disease.

Environmental exposure assessment is generally handled by other specialties and researchers. As a result, there can be a considerable delay between emerging research and what eventually becomes part of routine medical practice.

EMF/EMR exposure isn’t part of most medical school curriculum. Doctors train in pharmacology, pathology, surgery, and diagnostics. Most are trained to treat disease, not to assess environmental exposures that haven’t yet produced clinical consensus.

If you ask your doctor about EMF/EMR you will likely hear that “non-ionizing radiation is probably fine.” For acute exposure, they may not be entirely wrong. But chronic environmental exposure at population scale? That’s environmental health science, epidemiology, biophysics — disciplines that don’t intersect with your annual checkup.

History shows that environmental health concerns sometimes take many years to move from research journals into mainstream public awareness and clinical practice.

Currently, EMF/EMR research is happening in one field, while the medical profession hasn’t integrated it yet. That is probably the reason why over 250 scientists from 40+ countries have signed the International EMF Scientist Appeal calling for stronger protections — but that hasn’t filtered into your doctor’s workflow.

Although, thousands of peer-reviewed studies exist, it is likely that your doctor hasn’t read them simply because they haven’t filtered into the medical professions attention.
